How often you ARKET and Barbour will require re-waxing depends on the amount and type of use. To ensure long service, check the garment regularly for any dry areas where the wax may have worn away – paying particular attention to high-friction areas such as pockets and sleeve creases.
The waxed appearance may change with wear. Warming the jacket for 2–3 minutes in a tumble dryer or with a hairdryer can help restore its surface finish. From time to time, the entire garment will need re-waxing using Barbour Wax Thornproof® Dressing. Always use a genuine Barbour dressing – substitutes are less effective and may damage the fabric.
To clean
Sponge down the outer fabric with cold water to remove dirt and grit
Hang to dry naturally in a dry, airy place
Do not
Wash with soap, detergent, solvents or hot water
Machine wash
Dry clean, starch or iron
Store the garment while damp or wet
Expose to open flame or dry on radiators
Please note
Due to the traditional waxed cotton manufacturing process, oils may transfer onto other materials. We recommend keeping the garment away from pale fabrics, especially in warm conditions.
Regular re-waxing is essential to maintain the jacket’s weatherproof qualities. Contact Barbour for a complete re-wax and repair service.
