Denim is special for its exceptional durability, unique aging process, and versatile appeal. With proper care, your denim garments can improve with time.
Wash denim sparingly to preserve the fit and shape, saving water and energy.
To freshen up jeans between washes, air them in a steamy bathroom.
Raw denim is known for its high-contrast wear patterns that develop around areas like knees, lap, and pockets, making it unique to your body. To achieve these patterns, wear your jeans for a while before the first wash and wash them infrequently. For a more even fade, wash them more often.
Be careful with new raw denim, as the dye may transfer to light-coloured surfaces, including shirts, underwear, canvas trainers, and furniture.
Spot clean minor stains with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent, avoiding harsh stain removers that can bleach the fabric.
Hand-wash or use a cold cycle, at or below 40°C, to prevent shrinking and fading.
Use a mild detergent and turn jeans inside out to preserve colour and reduce wear on the outside. Wash with similar colours.
Raw denim: turn jeans inside out and hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent to retain indigo. Alternatively, use a gentle machine cycle, washing alone or with similar colours, as the dye will bleed.
Do not dry clean.
Avoid tumble drying when you can, as it can change their look and feel.
Hang your denim garments to air dry to avoid heat damage and shrinkage from using a dryer.
Reshape the jeans while drying to maintain their original form and fit.
If ironing is necessary, use a low heat setting.
Iron the jeans inside out to prevent shine marks.
Do not iron over prints.
Hang or fold your denim garments, avoiding tight folds to prevent permanent creases.
Raw denim: Hang to dry and avoid tumble drying. Place an old towel underneath to catch any dripping dye.
Store in a cool, dry place to prevent mould and mildew growth.
Keep denim away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and damage from UV rays.
