Care guides|April 2025
Jersey is a knitted fabric commonly used to make T-shirts, loungewear, and more. Properly caring for your jersey garments will help maintain their softness and stretch.
Read care labels and follow the washing and drying instructions.
Only wash jersey garments when truly needed – avoid washing after every use unless necessary. The garments you wear closest to your body on a daily basis naturally require regular washing.
Spot treating and steaming are excellent alternatives to a full wash.
Between washes, allow them to air out for a refreshed feel or apply garment refresher spray.
Wash jersey garments with similar colours to prevent colour bleeding.
Turn the garments inside out before washing to prevent pilling and reduce friction on the outer surface of the garment.
Opt for the lowest temperature and shortest cycle to prevent shrinkage and reduce stress on the fabric.
Use a mild detergent free from harsh chemicals and bleach.
Do not overload the washing machine, as this can cause excessive friction and wear on the garments.
Consider skipping the fabric softener, as it can leave residues that build up over time, affecting the fabric’s breathability. If a softer feel is desired, use a small amount of white vinegar in the rinse cycle instead.
Air dry your jersey garments to help maintain their shape. Be aware that hanging garments can stretch the fabric.
When air drying, keep the garments out of direct sunlight to prevent fading and degradation of the fibres.
Check the care label before using a tumble dryer, as some jersey garments may shrink. If using a dryer, select a low heat setting and remove the garments while they are still slightly damp to reduce the risk of shrinkage and maintain elasticity.
If needed, iron jersey garments on a low to medium heat setting. Always iron them inside out to avoid shiny marks and preserve the fabric’s texture.
Fold jersey garments instead of hanging them to prevent stretching and distortion.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
