      Sigg logo

Sigg’s aluminium factory in the small town of Frauenfeld in eastern Switzerland has been manufacturing pressure cookers, petrol containers and drinking bottles since 1917. An early version of today’s iconic aluminium bottle was developed during the first years of the company’s history and was given its clean, plain-coloured appearance in the 1980s. Since 1993, the design has been included in the permanent collection at the New York Museum of Modern Art. An original Sigg bottle is extruded from a 130-gram sheet of pure aluminium in one single movement, meaning it is made with no seams or joints. In total, it goes through 26 processing steps before its cylindrical shape is achieved. Lightweight, taste-neutral and reusable, Sigg’s Swiss-made bottles are appreciated by hikers, campers and mountaineers throughout the world.
