Family-owned Klippan, named after a small town in southern Sweden and founded in 1879, weaves pure wool blankets and throws using traditional Nordic craft techniques and pattern designs.
Based in a small town in the south of Sweden, Klippan has been developing and manufacturing quality yarns for weaves and upholstery fabrics since 1879. The founder, a master spinner at a prison where inmates engaged in yarn-making, acquired a bankrupt wool-spinning mill in the town of Klippan and established his own production outside the prison walls. The company, run today by the fourth and fifth generations of the same family, developed into one of Scandinavia’s most modern spinning mills and moved into weaving blankets, throws and other home textiles in the 1980s, when the demand for yarn gradually decreased. All Klippan products are made from pure natural fibres and characterised by Nordic craft techniques and pattern designs.
